South Croydon UK VW Dealer Goodliffe offered Black 1303 custom Beetles’ as a limited edition in early 1974. It featured gold pin striping livery inspired perhaps by the John Player Lotus F1 cars of the day, Wolfrace 5″ polished slotted mag wheels, Continental radials, a factory sunroof and heated rear window. Available with either the 1302 1300 engine or the 1303S 1600.
We now know from a Birth Certificate for one of these cars that the paint was L41(10) and interior (06) Poppy Red.
The Wolfrace brand was created in 1971 with the launch of the new Slot Mag alloy wheel. An innovative company, Wolfrace Wheels (UK) Limited was the first European company to launch a polished alloy wheel into the market place and the first British manufacturer to obtain the stringent German T.U.V certification during 1974.
