The Europa Edition 1 featured Black paint, chrome hub caps (previously Mexican Beetles came with matt finished hub caps), inside seats upholstered in a honeycomb black and white design with, uniquely, Recaro ‘Halo’ headrests, an AM/FM stereo cassette player radio with stereo speakers, a parcel tray below the dashboard, side and rear special badges.
This year, the Volkswagen received a ‘double diagonal’ braking system and an intermittent wash/wipe system.
