To coincide with the 1974 FA Cup Final between Liverpool FC and Newcastle United (also known as the Magpies) VW Dealership Colebrook and Burgess of Whitley Bay produced a limited run of ‘Magpie Beetles’ based on 1200 and 1300 models. Black and base white paint (Atlas White, L91Z) finish with fog and spot lamps, what is described as interior refinements, extra exterior chrome and fitted radio. A large Magpies logo was professionally sign written on the rear decklid.
Special Magpie stickers were available upon request.
