A Belgian edition 1300 and 1303 S with special seats advertised in Alaska Blue Metallic (L96B) paint, 4.5×15 Ritter/Lemmerz (Sprintstar style) sports wheels. ‘KIT VW’ logo sidestripes and on decklid.
The KIT 111 itself which the conversion was based on was already sold as an upgrade kit by D’Ieteren through their official Dealer network for the VW 1500 Beetle or Karmann-Ghia. D’Ieteren published a technical manual in two languages ( in Dutch and French ) through their promotional department in October 1967.
The first advertisements were made in the D’Ieteren monthly publications ‘Bonne Route & Goede Reis’ from February 1968. The announced price was 16500.-Bfr for the kit and 1500.-Bfr for installation.
The KIT was supplied complete and includes:
- 2 machined cylinder heads
- twin-carburettors
- 2 Porsche air filters
- 1 control rod
- 1 power distributor
- 1 lighter flywheel
- 2 inlet pipes
- 1 rev counter
- 1 oil temperature gauge
- decals and license plate “KIT 111”
The KIT 111 conversion package was guaranteed for 10,000 kilometers or 6 months but contravened the cars warranty and warnings were given.
