[M401 or M402 CKD (completely knocked-down) production.]

Factory Fitted Optional Equipment:

“red-wall’ tyres, full carpeting, black Duco painted dash panels (some with ‘satin-chrome’ trim) with glovebox medallion and souvenir gold coloured metal keychain.

(Some of the photos included in this Profile show a car featuring replacement upholstery colour, aftermarket steering wheel and front spoiler not part of the original edition package.)

Context: 

Uniquely Australian 1300cc Beetle and 1600cc Superbug S models each available with manual or semi-automatic gearboxes.

They were delivered inclusive of a dash plaque and matching keychain.

1,500 were assembled from of German CKD kits by Volkswagen (Australasia) Pty Ltd at their Clayton factory, Melbourne, Australia. Compliant with the “CKD” practice paint was sourced locally from Dulux Australia Pty Ltd.,
