A limited high performance version of the New Beetle. It included a 225 hp at 6200 rpm and 234 lb.ft. of torque at 3200 rpm, 3.2 liter VR6 engine, 0-100 kph in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph. 6-speed manual gearbox, and Volkswagen’s four-wheel drive 4Motion system, Remus twin-pipe exhaust. The suspension was greatly altered at the rear by VW, with geometry more geared to the race track and a rear cross brace behind the rear seats, 80 mm (3.1 in) wider fenders, unique front and rear bumpers, a rear diffuser, large rear wing, and 9J x 18 OZ Superturismo wheels with 235/40ZR-18 tyres.

The front seats were Recaro racing buckets. Interior features a new instrument binnacle clad with real carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is also used to trim the doors and the shells for the Recaro racing seats. The buckets and rear bench are covered with orange-brown leather. Radio was situated within the black Alcantara headliner. Silver Arrow Metallic paint (LG9R/P4). Notable disadvantages found were loud cabin noise and low rear tire life.

250 produced for the European market and one (#002) also produced in perhaps LW5Y Techno Blue for Ferdinand Piech.
