The Volkswagen Beetle Turbo Black and Turbo Silver special list edition models were launched in the UK in July 2012. The engines were 2.0 TSI 200 PS coupled with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic DSG gearbox, both sitting above the standard trim levels.
Key features included: 19-inch ‘Tornado’ alloy wheels with red brake callipers, a body-coloured rear diffuser, rear tailgate spoiler, and left and right chrome exhaust tailpipes, tinted rear side and rear windows. Body-coloured door sills feature a chrome protection insert, and ‘Turbo’ lettering is displayed on the sides in black. Depending on which model you opt for, gloss black or silver-coloured door mirrors. The names referred not to body colour but to the two Turbo lettering colours. A Turbo Black or Turbo Silver could be ordered in other, combination-appropriate, model colours.
The interior featured a three-dial instrument panel on the dashboard, oil temperature, a stopwatch, and turbo boost as standard.
