Context:

The Italian market variation of the Signal Orange Edition which was very similar to the version based on the standard “VW_1300” Beetle sold elsewhere in mainland Europe and from which it varied only on account of specific fitting required for conformity with local regulations in Italy.

We first became alerted to the possibility that the UK June Beetle may have been part of an internationally available Edition by a posting on TheSamba.com in 2014 about what appeared to be a very similar car then owned by Marco Lattuada in Italy. We were therefore very pleased that after a lot more discussion with, and help from, him that we were able to say with certainty his car was an SEB. We are very appreciative of the assistance with information and photographs from Marco that not only led to the authoritative identification of his car but also of initiating the unlocking of the 1970 Spring Editions story which was consolidated by our discovery of information in “de VW” published in The Netherlands by Pon’s Automobielhandel.
